Established in 2025 by Jody Knighton, Knighton Legal is a small practice with a focus on Family law. Knighton Legal takes a big picture approach to your legal problems. It is important to consider the whole story and consider all possible solutions. Our experience across a variety of courts and legal practice ares helps us to identify the best approach to resolving your issue. We try and keep our fees reasonable, offering a combination of time based billing and fixed fee services. We offer a first free interview (up to 1 hour) and accept Legal Aid for those clients who are eligible.
About us

Jody Knighton

Jody was admitted to practice in 2008 after a decade of work in legal support roles. Jody has experience in Family law, Criminal law, Child protection, Wills & Estates, Victims of crime compensation and intervention orders. Having worked in a community legal centre, private practice and government has given Jody an all round perspective on a variety of issues. As the Director of Legal Services at the Womens Legal Services (SA) Jody dealt with complex family law and child protection matters. Jody has regularly appeared in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court, Youth Court and South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws and Legal practice (Flinders University)
  • Admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of South Australia and the High Court of Australia
  • Legal Practice Management Course
